Zinc alloy or stainless steel? Start with the finished part.

Material selection is a design and use decision. Compare the geometry, weight, function, finish and production route instead of choosing from a material label alone.

Zhenglin's supplied product information identifies zinc alloy as a primary material and also notes copper, iron and stainless steel. That gives a buyer several routes to discuss, but it does not make one material automatically right for every lock, ring, hook or decorative detail.

What the comparison should answer

The first question is not simply “which material is stronger?” It is “what must this part do, in this product, under this finish and quantity requirement?” A small closure, a strap ring and a decorative logo plate can have different priorities even when they appear next to one another.

When zinc alloy may be a useful starting point

Zinc alloy can be a useful first conversation when the part needs a custom three-dimensional form, a visual transition or a family of related die-cast components. For handbag hardware, that may include locks, decorative elements, rings or handle attachments. The sample stage helps the buyer review form, dimensions, interfaces and finish before production direction is fixed.

This is a starting route, not a universal recommendation. The part still needs a drawing review and an application-specific quality discussion.

When stainless steel deserves a closer look

Stainless steel deserves a closer look when the buyer has a material requirement, a specific surface expectation or a functional reason that points to steel. State that requirement early. It lets the supplier assess the geometry and production route with the right constraint in view.

Do not use a material comparison as a substitute for a specification. The finished product context, critical dimensions and use conditions remain the deciding information.

Finish is part of the material decision

Buyers often compare raw materials while treating finish as an afterthought. That is risky for a visible handbag component. A gold-tone, silver-tone, black or custom colour reference may change how a team judges the part. Approve the appearance against a physical sample and keep the reference attached to the drawing revision.

  • What is the component expected to do?
  • What dimensions control the fit?
  • What load, movement or repeated-use condition matters?
  • Is a material required, preferred or open to recommendation?
  • What finish or physical reference should be followed?
  • What quantity and sample route should be quoted?
